Not for desk lamps
I tried this one in a lamp I had for my desk, because I heard the light was better for working by and easier on the eyes. It's a little too bright for me. I heard that this sort of bulb isn't good for lamps but better in recessed lighting or ceiling fixtures. I swapped it in my ceiling fan to check it out and sure enough it was fantastic. I'm still out one desk lamp bulb though.
